I’m back in the kitchen — and mixing things up!
Hey friends — it’s been a minute! Okay… more like since May 2024 since I cooked a state meal…
When I started Mel’s Cooking Adventure, it was all about creating three-course meals inspired by every U.S. state — and wow, what a delicious journey it’s been so far. From Hawaii’s Kalua pork to Alabama’s fried green tomatoes, I loved digging into local flavors and turning them into something magical in my own kitchen.
But somewhere along the way, life got busy (we bought a house, I got a new job, I traveled and made so many fun memories), and while I never stopped cooking, I paused on blogging. I’ve missed it, though!
So, here’s the update: I’m bringing the blog back, but with a little more freedom this time.

What’s new?
While I’ll still sprinkle in those beloved state-inspired meals, Mel’s Cooking Adventure is growing into something a little more personal — and a little more practical, too. Expect to see:
• Comfort food you’ll actually want to cook on a Tuesday night
• Recipes for hosting without the stress (even if it’s just a “come over and eat ziti” kind of night)
• Batch cooking, cozy meals, and lighter spins on nostalgic classics
• Occasional themed menus, dinner party tips, and hosting ideas
• Behind-the-scenes cookbook progress (yes, it’s happening!)

Why now?
Lately, I’ve found myself spending more time in the kitchen than ever. Maybe it’s the new house. Maybe it’s a way to stay grounded. But cooking — especially for other people — is something that brings me peace and joy.
I realized I don’t have to limit myself to one format or series. I can just show up and share what I’m genuinely excited about — whether it’s a Mississippi-style spread of food or a weeknight shortcut for creamy pesto risotto.

Let’s do this!!
If you’re still here reading, thank you. Truly. I hope you’ll stick around as Mel’s Cooking Adventure continues — maybe a little messier, a little more “real life,” but always with love and a big serving spoon of comfort.
And if there’s something you want to see here — a certain recipe, a dinner idea, or even tips on feeding a picky crowd — send me a message. I’m always listening!
Let’s cook!!

Love, Mel ❤️
